Association Between Emotional Intimate Partner Violence Around the Time of Pregnancy and Postpartum Contraceptive Use: Results from the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System 2016-2021.

This study assessed the relationships between emotional intimate partner violence (IPV) before, during, and after pregnancy and postpartum contraceptive use. We used 2016-2021 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System data from seven sites ( = 30,125). We used multivariable logistic regression to assess indicators of emotional IPV and provider counseling associated with postpartum contraceptive use.

[Strategies and Barriers to the Implementation of Continuing Education in Sentinel Hospitals for the Surveillance of COVID-19 Vaccine Safety in Honduras, 2022-2023Formação continuada: estratégias e barreiras de implementação em hospitais sentinela para a vigilância da segurança das vacinas contra a COVID-19 em Honduras, 2022-2023].

Objective: To describe the continuing education strategies implemented as part of the academic training of health workers; related barriers and facilitators; and the perceptions of health workers in sentinel hospitals in Honduras regarding changes in their knowledge.

Methods: The implemented continuing education strategies are described, as are the findings of a questionnaire given to assess health workers' perceptions of the effectiveness of these strategies in the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the surveillance of events supposedly attributable to vaccination, immunization, or adverse events of special interest. Barriers to participation in these strategies is also described.

Genetic barcodes for species identification and phylogenetic estimation in ghost spiders (Araneae: Anyphaenidae: Amaurobioidinae).

The identification of spider species presents many challenges, since in most cases the characters used are from genital structures that are only fully developed in the adult stage, hence the identification of immatures is most often not possible. Additionally, these structures usually also present some intra-specific variability, which in some cases makes the identification of closely related species difficult. The genetic barcode technique (DNA barcodes), based on sequencing of the mitochondrial marker cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI ), has proven a useful, complementary tool to overcome these limitations.

The most used vasopressors in critically ill patients are exogenous catecholamines, mainly norepinephrine. Their use can be associated with serious adverse events and even increased mortality, especially if administered at high doses. In recent years, the addition of vasopressin has been proposed to counteract the deleterious effects of high doses of catecholamines (decatecholaminization) with the intention of improving the prognosis of these patients.
