Methods: In this study we measured the osmotic water permeability of benign human mesothelial cells (MeT-5A) and of epithelioid (M14K) and sarcomatoid (ZL34) malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) cells in response to acute hyperosmotic stress.
Senescence-associated alterations in structure and function of cornea make it more sensitive to traumas and disease. Trauma of cornea leads to edema and vision impairment and only corneal transplantation remains the effective for vision correction. Role of aquaporins for cornea endothelium function, as well as age-related changes of their activity, are not entirely understood.
