Studies targeting the blood repellency and autonomous anticoagulation of superhydrophobic (SH) surfaces are potentially valuable for their application in blood contact. The anticoagulation abilities and potential mechanisms of different SH surfaces urgently need to be revealed. In this study, a range of microprotrusion arrays on Al substrates with varying spacings via laser ablation through the utilization of organic adsorption and siloxane coupling reactions were fabricated.

Mass transfer governs the overall catalytic performance of heterogeneous catalysts considerably; however, this fundamental research has often been ignored. Here, macroporous SiO-supported Pt nanoparticle (Pt/SiO-M) and mesoporous SiO-supported Pt nanoparticle (Pt/SiO-m) catalysts were specifically fabricated by a facile thermal reduction step to engineer the resultant Pt nanoparticles showing similar physiochemical properties while possessing completely different porous microstructures exclusively originating from SiO supports. On this basis, a platform to explore the crucial mass transfer difference affecting catalytic activity is then established by systematically practicing industry-important benzene oxidation measurements.

Neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NCIT) has improved pathological complete response and conferred survival benefits in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer. However, surgical complications unrelated to the tumor continue to detract from patient outcomes. While the "watch-and-wait" strategy has been implemented in clinical complete responders following neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer, there is a lack of evidence supporting its practicability in esophageal cancer after NCIT.

The demand for antibacterial, antifungal, and deodorant textiles has grown significantly with the increasing concern for health and hygiene. In this study, novel functional cotton fabric (EE) with long-lasting antibacterial, antifungal, and deodorant activity was prepared by graft modification with triclosan and eugenol. EE shows more than 99% antibacterial and antifungal activity against , , , and through mechanisms such as inhibiting enzyme activity and disrupting cell structure.

Background: As hypothermic circulatory arrest (HCA) is being more frequently induced in patients undergoing aortic arch surgery, its safety at different degrees has become a crucial area of study. The aim of this study was to assess the surgical outcomes of mild hypothermic circulatory arrest (MI-HCA) during aortic arch surgery.

Methods: Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) patients who underwent total arch replacement (TAR) and frozen elephant trunk (FET) surgery between January 2014 and December 2023 were enrolled in this study.
