Article Synopsis
  • Chronic anterior compartment syndrome of the forearm is a rare condition, with only three cases previously documented, and this text discusses three new cases involving two patients.
  • The syndrome typically arises from intense physical activity that continuously engages the forearm's flexor muscles, like during motorcycle competitions, leading to symptoms such as cramping pain.
  • Diagnosis is primarily based on measuring post-activity pressure in the compartment, which can exceed 30 mm Hg, along with imaging techniques like HMDP scanning and MRI to identify abnormalities; surgical intervention through fasciotomy is the recommended treatment, resulting in pain relief and a return to sports for the patients.

  • The technique employs both active (muscular flap) and passive (bone graft) methods, demonstrating success in five patients over an 18-month follow-up.
  • All patients experienced resolution of instability, restored full movement, and resumed their previous sports activities, indicating the reliability of the technique.
