An operational framework for wildlife health in the One Health approach.

Wildlife is an essential component of biodiversity and provides people with multiple social and economic benefits. However, a resurgence of epidemics over the past two decades has highlighted wildlife's role as a potential source of dangerous pathogens for humans and livestock, with devastating consequences worldwide. Simultaneously, numerous reports have indicated that wildlife populations are declining at an alarming rate due to human and livestock pathogens, predation, and competition.

The risk of delayed spinal cord injury in pediatric spinal deformity surgery.

Delayed spinal cord injury (SCI) hours or days after surgery, with uneventful monitoring and initial normal postoperative neurological examination, is a rare complication. Based on anecdotal evidence, the risk of delayed spinal cord injury might be higher than previously assumed. Therefore the aim of this study was to determine the risk of delayed SCI after pediatric spinal deformity surgery between 2013-2019 in the Netherlands.

Bone Health in Adults With Prader-Willi Syndrome: Clinical Recommendations Based on a Multicenter Cohort Study.

Context: Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare complex genetic syndrome, characterized by delayed psychomotor development, hypotonia, and hyperphagia. Hormone deficiencies such as hypogonadism, hypothyroidism, and growth hormone deficiency are common. The combination of hypotonia, low physical activity, and hypogonadism might lead to a decrease in bone mass and increase in fracture risk.

Phase II study of pembrolizumab in refractory esophageal cancer with correlates of response and survival.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors have revolutionized cancer treatment, but the benefits in refractory patients with esophageal cancer have been modest. Predictors of response as well as new targets for novel therapeutic combinations are needed. In this phase 2 clinical trial, we tested single-agent pembrolizumab in patients with advanced esophageal cancer, who received at least one prior line of therapy.

Pre-treatment tumor-infiltrating T cells influence response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is a disease with dismal treatment outcomes. Response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation (CRT) varies greatly. Although the underlying mechanisms of CRT resistance are not identified, accumulating evidence indicates an important role for local antitumor immunity.
