Neurodiversity, encompassing conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and dyslexia, represents a significant and often under-recognized segment of the population, including within science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine fields like medicine. Neurodiverse individuals possess unique skills, including enhanced creativity, analytical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail, which are valuable in health care professions. However, failure to recognize and support these individuals can result in missed opportunities, social isolation, and mental health challenges.

Admission to acute medical wards for mental health concerns among children and young people in England from 2012 to 2022: a cohort study.

Background: There are challenges in providing high quality care for children and young people who are admitted to acute medical wards for mental health concerns. Although there is concern that these admissions are increasing, national data describing these patterns are scarce. We aimed to describe trends in these admissions in England over a 10-year period, and to identify factors associated with repeat admission and length of stay.

Zinc as a Mechanism-Based Strategy for Mitigation of Metals Toxicity.

Purpose Of Review: Zinc is an essential micronutrient with a myriad of key roles in human health. This review summarizes mechanistic data supporting the protective effects of zinc on metal toxicity and discusses the framework for an interventional clinical trial of zinc supplementation within a metal exposed Native American community.

Recent Findings: Many metals have common underlying mechanisms of toxicity that contribute to adverse human health effects.

Sport Participation Positively Associated with Balance Confidence and Well-being in Transtibial Amputees.

Transtibial amputation (TTA) is the removal of the lower leg often resulting in pain, mental health issues, and a more sedentary lifestyle that lacks physical activity (PA). Low balance confidence and other factors related to the physical and psychosocial adaptation to amputation could contribute to why people with TTA actively avoid PA. Studies have investigated lower extremity amputations and barriers to PA in general, but none have focused solely on transtibial amputation and its relationship with PA participation and avoidance habits.

Synergistic Effects of the Combination of Alpelisib (PI3K Inhibitor) and Ribociclib (CDK4/6 Inhibitor) in Preclinical Colorectal Cancer Models.

The CDK4/6 inhibitor Ribociclib has shown limited efficacy as a monotherapy in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, combining Ribociclib with targeted therapies could present a viable strategy for treating CRC.
