To investigate self-rated aggression in relation to platelet MAO activity and serum testosterone in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), we administered the Aggression Questionnaire - Revised Swedish Version (AQ-RSV) to 30 female patients with FMS. After correction for age, significant positive correlations were seen between serum testosterone concentrations and the AQ-RSV scores for Verbal Aggression (r=0.36, p<0.

The paper describes the principles in the construction of diagnostic and examining complexes which record biological potentials in the frequency range of 0 to 20 kHz in real time and process them and, if required, either form the stimulating exposures or synchronize a recording process with external stimuli, as well as different purpose diagnostic and examining complexes designed by these principles. While solving different problems, the core of the complexes remains constant and only do the crate module ratio and attendant periphery change. The basic difference of the complexes is their software.

Background: Non-institutionalised patients treated with antidepressants have been shown to have indicators of a generalised vulnerability, such as high rates of health service use and excessive prescription drug use. Therefore, mortality in this patient group is of interest.

Method: All first-incidence antidepressant users in a defined population during a five-year period were identified.

In a double blind controlled cross-over trial on 20 healthy volunteers, the anticholinergic side-effects of single doses of amitriptyline (75 mg), zimelidine (100 mg), maprotiline (75 mg), and placebo were compared. Anticholinergic side-effects were determined by means of self-rating of dryness in the mouth (visual analogue scale), determination of unstimulated and stimulated saliva secretion rate and accommodation range. There were no significant effects recorded after intake of placebo, which supports the test-retest reliability and the validity of the methods.

62 patients with affective disorder, 31 unipolar, 22 bipolar and 9 cycloid psychotics who had received prophylactic lithium therapy for 0,3 to 7,5 years were studied. Lithium in plasma, lithium in red blood cells (RBC) and the lithium ratio (RBC/plasma) were estimated. The lithium ratio does not seem to be of predictive value in determining for which patients prophylactic lithium therapy will succeed.
