Sonographic Overview of Usual and Unusual Disorders of the Rectus Femoris Tendon Origins.

Rectus femoris muscle proximal injuries are not rare conditions. The proximal rectus femoris tendinous anatomy is complex and may be affected by traumatic, microtraumatic, or nontraumatic disorders. A good knowledge of the proximal rectus femoris anatomy allows a better understanding of injury and disorder patterns.

Thermoplastic polyurethane-based intravaginal rings for prophylaxis and treatment of (recurrent) bacterial vaginosis.

The aim of the present study was to develop thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)-based intravaginal rings (IVRs) for prophylaxis and treatment of bacterial vaginosis via hot melt extrusion/injection molding. Therefore, different TPU grades were processed in combination with lactic acid or metronidazole, targeting a sustained lactic acid release over a 28day-period and sustained metronidazole release over 4-7days. Hot melt extrusion of lactic acid/TPU combinations required a lower extrusion temperature due to the plasticizing properties of lactic acid, evidenced by the lower glass transition temperature (T) and cross-over point (T) values.

Prescribing preferences in rapid tranquillisation: a survey in Belgian psychiatrists and emergency physicians.

Background: The pharmacotherapeutic management of agitation is a common clinical challenge. Pharmacotherapy is frequently used, the use of published guidelines is not known. The purpose of this study was twofold; to describe the prescribing patterns of psychiatrists and emergency physicians and to evaluate to which extent guidelines are used.

Pisotriquetral joint disorders: an under-recognized cause of ulnar side wrist pain.

Pisotriquetral joint disorders are often under-recognized in routine clinical practice. They nevertheless represent a significant cause of ulnar side wrist pain. The aim of this article is to present the main disorders of this joint and discuss the different imaging modalities that can be useful for its assessment.
