Exploring parental thoughts and clinical experiences on blended food in a paediatric population, a qualitative study.

Background: There's a growing interest in blended food (BF) as an alternative to commercial food (CF) for tube-fed children. Thus, we investigated parental and medical experiences with BF as an option for tube feeding in children.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, all patients were already using BF, chosen by parents.

Parental and physician's point-of-view towards antibiotic prescriptions and discharge conversations in the pediatric emergency department.

Background: Within Europe, the Netherlands has one of the lowest antibiotic consumption rates. We aimed to gain insight into attitudes of Dutch physicians and parents towards information provided during discharge conversations in the emergency department (ED) and towards antibiotic use in children, in order to obtain information on the assumptions and beliefs that underlie a practice of low prescription rates.

Methods: Discharge conversations of 70 children presenting with an infectious disease at the ED were observed.

Development and Testing of a Screener for Intelligence and Learning Disabilities (SCIL).

Background: Many clients in contact with social services and (mental) health care have mild to borderline intellectual disabilities (MBID). Yet, administering a full intelligence test may not be feasible.

Method: In 318 adults and 305 juveniles, the scores on 14 questions that comprise the screener for intelligence and learning disabilities (SCIL) were analysed in relation to the IQs of the participants.
