A simple method was developed for end-point fluorescence detection of the 735G --> A mutation of the 5'-splice donor site of intron 14 of the dihidropyrimidine dehydrogenase gene (DPYD). The method was based on allele-specific PCR with duplex Scorpion primers. The genotyping results obtained by the fluorescent endpoint PCR technique completely coincided with the results obtained by allele-specific PCR with amplicon detection in agarose gel.

It has been shown that biological microinjection, that is, fusion of protein-charged human erythrocytes with monolayer cells may be achieved by means of reconstructed Sendai virus consisting of envelope structures but devoid of nucleoid. Sendai virion envelopes reconstructed by dialysis possessed no infectivity, interferon-inducing, or interfering activities. The use of 125I-IgG demonstrated that erythrocytes are loaded with protein by 35%-40% and that each of the monolayer L929 cells is fused on the average with 4 loaded erythrocytes.

The capacity of the peripheral blood mononuclears to produce leukocyte (alpha) and immune (gamma) interferons as well as interferon concentrations in the serum were studied in 101 children suffering from lymphosarcoma. In the blood serum of the patients interferon titres did not exceed 4 units/ml. The lowered capacity of the peripheral blood mononuclears to produce one of the interferon species in titres below 32 units/ml is a bad prognostic factor.
