Article Synopsis
  • Nearly all transmitted HIV-1 cases are CCR5 (R5)-tropic, but this research identifies a case of CXCR4 (X4)-tropic HIV-1 in a participant from the RV217 cohort, highlighting its transmissibility.
  • The X4 HIV-1 caused faster depletion of CD4 T cells compared to R5 infections, affecting naive and central memory CD4 subsets more severely, while showing resistance to certain broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs).
  • This study suggests that X4-tropic HIV-1 can be transmitted among individuals with a normal CCR5 gene, indicating that the specific tropism of HIV-1 could influence its transmission potential and

Article Synopsis
  • Several techniques for maxillary sinus graft augmentation, like the lateral window and crestal approaches, have been studied, and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is noted for speeding up healing.
  • This study aimed to see if combining PRF with synthetic hydroxyapatite NanoBone improves bone regeneration during sinus floor elevation using the lateral window technique.
  • In a split-mouth study with six participants, the test group using NanoBone and PRF showed a greater increase in new vital bone compared to the control group using only NanoBone, suggesting that PRF may enhance bone formation without hindering the process.

Purpose: Childhood cancer survivors carry a high burden of late-occurring treatment-related morbidity. Long-term risk-based anticipatory surveillance allows for early detection and management of complications. We sought to examine demographic, clinical, and social characteristics associated with survivorship clinic attendance at the Taking on Life after Cancer (TLC) Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Alabama.

Attachment relationships are widely recognized as influential in increasing prosocial tendencies, with existing literature indicating that human attachment can increase empathetic processes, thereby potentially facilitating prosocial behavior. Given that pets frequently fulfill the criteria for attachment figures, this study investigates whether the observed associations among human attachment, empathy, and prosocial attitudes extend to human-animal interactions (HAI). This study examines the relationship between pet attachment, animal empathy, and prosocial attitudes toward humans.
