Aims: To estimate physical activity (activity) duration required to lower glucose from above target range (>180 mg/dL) to within target range (TIR: 70-180 mg/dL) in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Methods: Continuous glucose monitoring and activity data were collected from 404 adults (28-day observation) and 149 adolescents (10-day observation) with T1D. Activities (N = 1902) with a starting glucose between 181--300 mg/dL, duration 10-60 min, and no reported meals during activity were included in the analysis.

The management of neonatal testicular torsion lacks consensus. Arguments in favor of emergency bilateral exploration and fixation include a salvage rate and the incidence of bilateral torsion. We performed a retrospective single-center analysis of all cases of neonatal torsion in our unit between 2012 and 2022 to assess whether our data supports this approach and to publish further data on a disease on which there remains a paucity.

Environmental drivers such as salinity can impact the timing, and duration of developmental events in aquatic early life stages of crustaceans, including terrestrial crabs of the family Gecarcinidae. Low salinity delays larval development in land crabs, but nothing is known about its influence on the crucial late-stage encapsulated embryonic, or immediate post-hatch development. Therefore, we exposed fertilised late-stage embryos of the Christmas Island red crab (Gecarcoidea natalis) to differing salinities (100, 75, 50, or 25 % sea water) for 24 h during their spawning period and measured some key developmental and physiological traits.

Glyphosate is an acidic herbicide reported to contaminate water sources around the globe. Glyphosate alters the pH of a solution depending upon the concentration and buffering capacity of the solution in which it is present. Hence, toxicity observed in laboratory-based studies could be caused by the chemical or acidic pH if the solution is not adjusted to neutral conditions, confounding toxicity assessments.

Carbon dioxide geological storage is proposed as part of the solution to reach net zero emissions. The potential to mobilise heavy metals to low salinity groundwater through CO water rock geochemical reactions is a potential environmental risk factor, if CO migrates. Previous studies have focused on pure CO reactivity, however CO streams from hard to abate industries can contain gas impurities.
