[Hemangioma and vascular malformations. Diagnosis and treatment].

The authors discuss the dilemmas associated with diagnosis and treatment of haemangiomas and vascular malformations. The complexity of these conditions too often sends the patients wandering from one specialist to another in search of an optimal therapeutic approach. We have established a multidisciplinary team to facilitate interspecialty communication on diagnosis, natural history, and therapy.

[Free vascular grafts in reconstructions in the head and neck region].

Since 1989, 40 free-tissue grafts were used in 39 patients to repair defects following major head and neck ablative surgery (n = 32) and for reconstruction of the mandible because of osteoradionecrosis or trauma (n = 7). The radial forearm flap was used in 17 patients (five including a segment of radius), the lateral arm flap in seven, fibula in five and a segment of ileum for restoration of the hypopharynx in 11 cases. Three radial forearm flaps and the bone in one lateral arm flap failed.

Cleft lip and palate, scoliosis, skeletal and cardiac malformations and other dysmorphic features in a child. Case report.

A girl aged 3 1/2 years presented with cleft lip and palate, facial asymmetry, brachycephaly, persistent ductus arteriosus, vertebral defects, and progressive scoliosis. There was, however, no significant mental and growth retardation.

Reduction mammaplasty. A comparative study of the Orlando and Robbins methods in 292 patients.

Between January 1984 and November 1990 a total of 292 patients underwent reduction mammaplasty for hypertrophic breasts. Of these 233 had a superomedial pedicle (Orlando's method) and 36 an inferior pedicle (Robbins' method). Twenty-three had various other operations.
