δC and δN zooplankton isoscapes as trace of water masses and mesoscale activity in the Pacific Tropical-Subtropical Convergence off Mexico during June 2010.

This research analyzes for the first time in the Pacific Tropical-Subtropical Convergence off Mexico during June 2010 the relationships among the δC and δN signal distribution in the bulk zooplankton, water masses, and mesoscale structures. The environmental analysis showed that the California Current Water (CCW) and Transitional Water (TrW) converge where the 22 °C isotherm and 34.6 g kg isohaline were observed (22°N).

Influence of kelp forests on flow around headlands.

Kelp forests affect coastal circulation but their influence on upwelling around headlands is poorly understood. Tidal-cycle surveys off two headlands with contrasting kelp coverage illustrated the influence of kelp forests on headland upwelling. Underway acoustic Doppler current and backscatter profiles were collected simultaneously to surface water temperature.
