Background: Resilience mechanisms at the individual, family, and environmental levels may improve health outcomes despite potentially harmful stress exposure partly through the practice of positive health behaviors.

Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of 2016-2021 National Survey of Children's Health data to assess the relationships between three resilience domains - child, family, neighborhood - and six health behaviors using multiple regression models adjusted for the other resilience domain(s) and potential confounders.

Results: Analysis revealed significant associations between each resilience domain and multiple health behaviors in a total weighted analytic sample of 70,156,540 children.

Article Synopsis
  • - The COVID-19 pandemic initially appeared to primarily affect the respiratory system, but numerous patients developed additional symptoms, including significant cardiac issues like myocarditis and pericarditis.
  • - One reported case details a patient who developed constrictive pericarditis three years after a COVID-19 infection, which initially presented with loss of smell and taste, followed by severe chest and leg symptoms.
  • - The patient's condition required a surgical procedure called pericardiectomy due to thickening of the pericardium, marking it as the first known instance of requiring such an operation for COVID-19-related constrictive pericarditis, with significant improvement noted post-surgery.

Background: National child obesity rates continue to climb. While neighborhood factors are known to influence childhood weight, more work is needed to further our understanding of these relationships and inform intervention and policy approaches reflective of complex real-world contexts.

Methods: To evaluate the associations between neighborhood components and childhood overweight/obesity, we analyzed sequential, cross-sectional data from the National Survey of Children's Health collected annually between 2016 and 2021.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare rates and severity of recurrent acute diverticulitis in patients with and without solid organ transplant.

Background: Immunocompromised solid organ transplant recipients have been considered higher risk for both recurrence and severity of acute diverticulitis. Current guidelines recommend an individualized approach for colectomy in these patients, but these are based on single-center data.
