Study Design: In this study, we explored how galvanic vestibular stimulation can modify the soleus H-reflex (Hoffman reflex), that is, the excitability of the spinal cord circuits, in healthy humans.

Objectives: Our aim was to demonstrate H-reflex amplitude modulation caused by changing the duration and the intensity of the anodal galvanic vestibular stimulation. Therefore, we measured H-reflex before and after applied vestibular stimulation.

Introduction: New neurorehabilitation together with conventional techniques provide methods and technologies for maximizing what is preserved from the sensory motor system after cerebrovascular insult. The rehabilitation technique named functional electrical therapy was investigated in more than 60 patients in acute, subacute and chronic phase after cerebrovascular insult. The functional sensory information generated by functional electrical therapy was hypothesized to result in the intensive functional brain training of the activities performed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of physical training (PT) on lipid risk factors in patients recovering from myocardial infarction (MI), comparing those who participated in PT to a control group without PT.
  • Despite similar levels of hyperlipidemia immediately after MI, patients engaged in prolonged PT showed significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides, along with an increase in HDL cholesterol after 48 months.
  • The findings suggest that maintaining a structured PT regimen can effectively improve lipid profiles in MI patients, underscoring the importance of ongoing physical activity for optimal health outcomes.
