Article Synopsis
  • Primary hepatic lymphoma (PHL) is a liver-specific cancer, primarily affecting middle-aged men, with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma being the most common type, making up 60-80% of cases.
  • A systematic review of 55 studies involving 147 PHL patients showed a high treatment rate (77%), mainly through chemotherapy, and revealed significant mortality rates (29.2%) influenced by factors like tumor location and treatment strategy.
  • Further research is needed to explore whether surgical intervention leads to better long-term survival for resectable cases, with two hypotheses proposing either a less severe disease form or the efficacy of hepatectomy as a treatment option.
