Article Synopsis
  • - The study analyzed swimming turn performance in male and female Swiss national team members using advanced statistical methods (PCA and multiple linear regression) to evaluate kinematic and kinetic key performance indicators (KPI) across different age groups (adult, junior, youth).
  • - A motion analysis system with underwater cameras and force plates was used to gather detailed data on swimmers' performances, allowing for a reduction of original variables and a comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting swimming turns.
  • - The KPIs identified can help coaches and swimmers assess performance by highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and the percentiles provided serve as benchmarks for evaluating individual swimmer's potential.

Background: The transition from school to university is often accompanied by a change in students' lifestyles. So far little is known whether convenience behavior is an essential factor affecting students' health and social interaction. In a heterogeneous population regard to sociodemographic and anthropometric characteristics the Convenience Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) showed a better relationship between convenience-related behavior with overweight and obesity than established questionnaires.

The microbial biotransformation of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) by novel anaerobic microbial consortia enriched from sediments of an industrial effluent channel and the river Ravi in Pakistan was examined. The anaerobic consortia were capable of biotransforming α-, β-, γ-, and δ-HCH through reductive dichloroelimination, resulting in the formation of benzene and monochlorobenzene. Concerning γ-HCH biotransformation by the channel and river cultures, isotopic fractionations for carbon (ε) were - 5.

Background: Statins can improve outcomes in high-risk primary prevention populations. However, application in clinical practice has lagged.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to compare an active vs a passive strategy (ie, usual care) to statin prescription for primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
