One commercial production run of Provolone del Monaco - a long-ripened pasta filata cheese - was followed up to the end of ripening for a total of 20 samples. 371 LAB isolates were subject to genetic characterization followed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The dominant species were Lacticaseibacillus casei/paracasei (19.

Esca-affected vines alter the carbohydrate metabolism, xylem transport of water and photosynthesis and show regular grapes (but berries do not reach maturity), and phenolic compounds are reduced in concentration, oxidate and polymerizate. Pullulan and a mixture of scytalone and isosclerone (9:1; /), secondary metabolites produced in vitro and in planta by (syn. ) and were assayed against the strains Byosal HS1 and IOC 18-2007 in microvinifications with synthetic grape must.

Engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) come in a wide array of shapes, sizes, surface coatings, and compositions, and often possess novel or enhanced properties compared to larger sized particles of the same elemental composition. To ensure the safe commercialization of products containing ENMs, it is important to thoroughly understand their potential risks. Given that ENMs can be created in an almost infinite number of variations, it is not feasible to conduct in vivo testing on each type of ENM.

Efficient strategies are required in sweet cherry fruits to control the spotted wing drosophila (SWD), , due to its adverse economic effect on farmers. Cold storage (CS) and storage with elevated carbon dioxide (CO) are environmentally safe approaches for the pest control of stored fresh fruit. These strategies are effective in controlling a wide variety of insect species, without allowing toxic compounds to accumulate.

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) apheresis (LA) selectively eliminates lipoproteins containing apolipoprotein B 100 (ApoB100) on patients affected by severe dyslipidemia. In addition to lowering lipids, LA is thought to exert pleiotropic effects altering a number of other compounds associated with atherosclerosis, such as pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines or pro-thrombotic factors. More knowledge needs to be gathered on the effects of LA, and particularly on its ability to modify blood components other than lipids.
