Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA): Normative Data for the State of Kerala, South India.

Background: Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA) is a tool that is widely accepted across the world to measure mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The original cut-off score of MoCA falsely screens a large population of Indians as having MCI.

Objective: The aim of this study was to develop the normative data for MoCA for the older population of Kerala, South India.

Valorization of coffee bean processing waste for the sustainable extraction of biologically active pectin.

The dry method of coffee processing generates a significant amount of coffee husk, an agricultural waste for which currently there is a lack of profitable use, and their disposal constitutes a major environmental problem. Pectin was extracted from coffee husk using citric acid solution (pH 1.5) by microwave-assisted extraction method, followed by using ice-cold ethanol.

Anomalous left atrial chorda and its association with mitral regurgitation.

Anomalous left atrial chorda is associated with mitral regurgitation. A young woman presenting for mitral valve repair with the diagnosis of mid-segment (A2) of anterior mitral leaflet prolapse causing severe mitral regurgitation. Transesophageal echocardiography examination in pre-bypass period showed an anomalous chorda attaching A2 to the left atrial roof, tethering the anterior mitral leaflet toward the atrial wall.

Influence of defatted mango kernel seed flour addition on the rheological characteristics and cookie making quality of wheat flour.

Defatted mango kernel seed flour was added to wheat flour for the production of cookies. The protein contents of the wheat-mango kernel flour blend were optimized using optimal mixture design of response surface methodology. The farinograph analysis had acceptable mixing profile at 25%-defatted mango kernel flour incorporation, after which the mixing profile was adversely affected.
