Adenoviruses (Ads) have demonstrated significant success as replication-deficient (RD) viral vectored vaccines, as well as broad potential across gene therapy and cancer therapy. Ad vectors transduce human cells via direct interactions between the viral fiber knob and cell surface receptors, with secondary cellular integrin interactions. Ad receptor usage is diverse across the extensive phylogeny.

Benign Episodic Mydriasis as a Cause of Isolated Anisocoria.

Case Presentation: A 22-year-old female presented to the emergency department with a dilated right pupil and mild blurry vision. Physical examination revealed a dilated, sluggishly reactive right pupil, without other ophthalmic or neurologic abnormalities. Neuroimaging was normal.

A Novel Ocular Tonometry Task Trainer.

The measurement of intraocular pressure via ocular tonometry is a skill necessary for the evaluation of emergency department patients with ocular complaints. Accurate results inform the use of time-sensitive medications or invasive procedures. We sought to develop and evaluate an affordable, realistic, and reproducible task trainer to allow Emergency Medicine residents and medical students to practice tonometry.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Systolic Heart Failure in a Female Patient With Danon Disease.

Danon disease commonly manifests as isolated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in female patients. The diagnosis is easily missed as it is rare and its pathophysiology is poorly understood. Without early diagnosis and treatment with heart transplantation, cardiomyopathy may progress to heart failure.
