Expression of SRY-box transcription factor 17 (Sox17) in the endodermal region caudal to the hepatic diverticulum during late gastrulation is necessary for hepato-pancreato-biliary system formation. Analysis of an allelic series of promoter-proximal mutations near the transcription start site (TSS) 2 of Sox17 in mouse has revealed that gallbladder (GB) and extrahepatic bile duct (EHBD) development is exquisitely sensitive to Sox17 expression levels. Deletion of a SOX17-binding cis-regulatory element in the TSS2 promoter impairs GB and EHBD development by reducing outgrowth of the nascent biliary bud.

Aims: Migraine and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are both twice as common in women as men. Cross-sectional studies have shown associations between migraine and several psychiatric conditions, including PTSD. PTSD is disproportionally common among patients in headache clinics, and individuals with migraine and PTSD report greater disability from migraines and more frequent medication use.

Aim: Current literature favours individualised decision making, an approach that requires understanding patients within their context and tailoring treatment and recommendations to their unique needs. In neonatology, family context becomes synonymous with patient context. In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the team may be challenged to understand the intricacies of the family context, paramount for both families and clinicians.

Introduction: Although shared decision-making is highly valued, its implementation in clinical practice is suboptimal. Shared decision-making was included in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine 13 valent for older adults. As a first step to develop and test clinician educational resources to facilitate shared decision-making for pneumococcal vaccines for older adults, we completed a needs assessment to identify knowledge gaps, attitudes, and behaviors.
