[Application hemostatic drug in capillary-parenchymatous bleeding].

Specific activity of a new hemostatic drug thrombocol was studied in experiments. Laboratory rabbits were used for management of experimental capillary-parenchymatous hemorrhage. The action of thrombocol was compared with hemostatic effect of other drugs: carbocol, combutek-2, super-4 (USA), collastipt (Germany), collagen sponge (Germany).

Probing the magnetic anisotropy of lanthanide-containing metallomesogens by luminescence spectroscopy.

The alignment of liquid crystals through magnetism demands a high value of the magnetic anisotropy. The magnitude of the anisotropy for a series of isostructural lanthanide-containing metallomesogens can be estimated on basis of the crystal-field splitting of the (7)F1 multiplet in the corresponding europium(III) compounds. A method to rapidly measure this splitting value is accessible through photoluminescence measurements.

Synthesis, mesomorphism, and unusual magnetic behaviour of lanthanide complexes with perfluorinated counterions.

Lanthanide complexes of the Schiff base ligand 4-dodecyloxy-N-hexadecyl-2-hydroxybenzaldimine and with perfluorinated alkyl sulfate counterions were synthesised. All of the metal complexes show a smectic A mesophase. The viscosity of this mesophase is much lower than that of analogous compounds with nitrate or alkyl sulfate counterions.

[Determination of the luminol-dependent chemiluminescence of granulocytes].

The authors have defined the optimal conditions for the determination of granulocyte luminol-dependent chemiluminescence (LDCL) in normal donors; the granulocytes have been isolated from small volumes of blood. Granulocytic LDCL has been studied in granulocyte exposure to zymosan, zymosan-activated serum, phorbol-myristate acetate, and FMLP (formyl-L-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine) synthetic tripeptide. Significant individual differences in the granulocyte activities in normal subjects have been revealed.
