A first-in-class vaccine adjuvant delivery system, Mn-ZIF, is developed by incorporating manganese (Mn) into the zinc-containing zeolitic-imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8). The mixed metal approach, which allowed for tunable Mn doping, is made possible by including a mild reducing agent in the reaction mixture. This approach allows up to 50% Mn, with the remaining 50% Zn within the ZIF.

The study aims to verify whether the waste can be reused in another process and not destined to its simple destructive disposal.
Methods: In this perspective, we first carried out an in-depth chemical-physical analysis of the waste together with a biocompatibility evaluation to plan the feasible final choice of waste destination.
Cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) is an indole-tetramic acid neurotoxin produced by and genera present mainly in fruit, cereals and nuts. This study compares the cytotoxicity produced by CPA after 24, 48 and 72 h of exposure using both monolayers and 3D spheroids in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Furthermore, CPA toxicokinetics was evaluated using models.

In this study, aiming to reduce the doses and potential side effects of traditional chemotherapeutics, we systematically treated A375MM human melanoma cells with seven clinically approved antineoplastic drugs, in combination with three well-characterized G-quadruplex (G4) ligands, using either simultaneous or sequential dosing schedules. Interestingly, the G4 binders synergized with most of the investigated anticancer drugs, with the degree of synergism being strictly dependent on both the treatment schedule and the drug sequence employed.
