Olfactory dysfunction, affecting 75-90 % of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients, holds significant predictive value for PD development. Advanced imaging techniques, such as diffusion MRI (dMRI) and functional MRI (fMRI), offer insights into structural and functional changes within olfactory pathways. This review summarizes a decade of research on MRI-based connectivity of the olfactory system in PD, focusing on structural and functional alterations in olfactory brain areas and their links to early olfactory processing changes.

The human pulvinar is considered a prototypical associative thalamic nucleus as it represents a key node in several cortico-subcortical networks. Through this extensive connectivity to widespread brain areas, it has been suggested that the pulvinar may play a central role in modulating cortical oscillatory dynamics of complex cognitive and executive functions. Additionally, derangements of pulvinar activity are involved in different neuropsychiatric conditions including Lewy-body disease, Alzheimer's disease, and schizophrenia.

The aim of this study was to identify the neural pattern activation during mirror therapy (MT) and explore any cortical reorganization and reducing asymmetry of hemispheric activity for upper limb rehabilitation in post-stroke patients. A box containing a mirror was placed between the arms of the patients to create the illusion of normal motion in the affected limb by reflecting the image of the unaffected limb in motion. We measured the cerebral hemodynamic response using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
