Abortion provision and characteristics of abortion patients in an academic medical center in Washington state before and after Dobbs.

Objective: To examine abortion care in the largest academic medical center in Washington, a state protective of abortion rights, before and after the Supreme Court Dobbs decision.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study evaluated abortion provision at the University of Washington between January 1, 2022 and October 31, 2023. Data on patient sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were extracted from electronic medical records.

Utility of loop diuretics as a marker of risk in clinical trials of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: Analysis from the Swedish Heart Failure Registry.

Aims: It is common in heart failure (HF) trials, especially in HF with preserved (HFpEF) and mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF), to select for increased risk of outcomes ('enrichment'). We investigated the association between loop diuretic use and common trial outcomes.

Methods And Results: Patients in the Swedish HF Registry with HFmrEF and HFpEF were divided into three groups: no loop diuretic use, 1-40 mg furosemide equivalent, and >40 mg.

Interventions for adult congenital heart disease.

Advances in imaging diagnostics, surgical techniques and transcatheter interventions for paediatric patients with severe congenital heart disease (CHD) have substantially reduced mortality, thereby extending the lifespan of these individuals and increasing the number of adults with complex CHD. Transcatheter interventions have emerged as an alternative to traditional open-heart surgery to mitigate congenital defects. The evolution of techniques, the introduction of new devices and the growing experience of operators have enabled the treatment of patients with progressively more complex conditions.

Quantification and prediction of human fetal (-)-Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol/(±)-11-OH-Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol exposure during pregnancy to inform fetal cannabis toxicity.

Prenatal cannabis use is associated with neurodevelopmental deficits, likely due to exposure to the psychoactive cannabinoid, (-)-Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol, and its active metabolite, (±)-11-OH-Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol. To determine causality, preclinical studies mimicking human fetal cannabinoid exposure must be conducted. Here we show cannabinoid concentrations across gestation in maternal plasma and paired fetal tissues in trimester 1 and 2 and maternal plasma and fetal umbilical venous plasma in trimester 3.

Associations between cannabis use and same-day health and substance use behaviors.

Objective: Cannabis use has increased in the United States as states have legalized/decriminalized recreational and/or medicinal use. The primary aim of this study was to examine daily associations between cannabis use and health (physical activity [PA]) and substance use (alcohol consumption, cigarette use) behaviors.

Method: Data from a 28-day nationwide study that prompted daily ecological momentary assessments (EMAs) were used to assess daily cannabis use, moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA), alcohol containing drinks consumed, and cigarettes smoked.
