Associations between neighbourhood-level median household income and outpatients' risk of antibiotic non-susceptible uropathogens in a major urban centre, USA.

Introduction: Resistance to first-line antibiotics among urinary tract infections continues to rise, but how neighbourhood-level socioeconomic status impacts this risk remains unclear. We examined the effect of neighbourhood-level income on a patient's risk of having a uropathogen non-susceptible to trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMX) or nitrofurantoin.

Methods: We used electronic health record data and antibiotic susceptibility test results for urinary and collected at Emory Healthcare outpatient facilities in greater Atlanta between October 2022 and September 2023.

Paramedic educational programs maintain entry level competency throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic required unprecedented changes to emergency medical services (EMS) educational frameworks in the United States. It is unclear if pandemic-related changes impacted paramedic educational outcomes. We aimed to evaluate curricular and performance changes resulting from the initial COVID-19 pandemic on paramedic educational programs.

Pairing Laboratory-Housed Adult Male Rhesus Macaques (): Success Rates in Relation to Behavioral Response and Duration of Visual Contact.

While the benefits of pair housing have been well documented, less is known about increasing success in adult male macaque pair introductions. In this retrospective study, 95 unfamiliar adult male macaque () pairs were examined to determine whether duration of visual contact, behavior, and age and weight were associated with success rate, with "success" defined as two weeks in full tactile contact without excessive behavioral indicators of incompatibility or injury requiring clinical treatment or care. Overall, the unfamiliar adult male pairs achieved a success rate of 72% and wounding requiring medical attention was rare (2%).

Feasibility of a contraceptive-specific electronic health record system to promote the adoption of pharmacist-prescribed contraceptive services in community pharmacies in the United States.

Objectives: Pharmacists in over half of the United States can prescribe contraceptives; however, low pharmacist adoption has impeded the full realization of potential public health benefits. Many barriers to adoption may be addressed by leveraging an electronic health records (EHR) system with clinical decision support tools and workflow automation. We conducted a feasibility study to determine if utilizing a contraceptive-specific EHR could improve potential barriers to the implementation of pharmacist-prescribed contraceptive services.
