[Logistic regression analysis in the combination of diagnostic methods in glaucoma].

Purposes: In this research was studied the diagnostic ability of the Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph (HRT II), GDx nerve fiber analyzer (GDx), Short-wavelenght Automated Perimetry (SWAP) and Frequency-doubling technology (FDT), all of them together and also separately in the diagnosis of glaucoma.

Methods: Sixty glaucomatous patients and 60 normal ones were submitted to examination with the technology of HRT II, GDx, FDT and SWAP. In the interpretation of HRT, based on the Moorfields regression analysis, were considered abnormal when at least one area of the neuroretinal ring was outside the bounds of normality.

[Factors that influence outpatient service user satisfaction in a low-income population: a population-based study].

Aim: To measure the prevalence of overall satisfaction with the previous medical consultation and their associated factors, among adults aged 20 years or more, in a city located in southern Brazil.

Methods: A cross-sectional population-based study was performed in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, from July to December 2009. Systematic sampling was used with a probability proportional to the size of each of the 121 census tracts in the area studied.

Results of en bloc renal transplants of pediatric deceased donors into adult recipients.

Unlabelled: Various strategies have evolved to expand the donor pool due to the extreme shortage of organs. Herein we reviewed our experience with en bloc pediatric kidney transplantation since 1998.

Methods: From January 1998 to December 2004, nine adult patients underwent kidney transplantation using en bloc kidneys from donors <5 years old (range, 1 to 4).

[Women caring for women: a study at the "Viva Maria" shelter, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil].

This research was conducted in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, with a sample of battered women selected from a government shelter called the "Casa Viva Maria". We analyzed data on 110 women staying at the shelter during the previous two years (January 1996-June 1998). The profile of the women was as follows: abused women were young (mean age 29 years), all had low socioeconomic status, 12% were illiterate, 21% were black, 80% reported frequent abuse by their partners, and 18% had returned to violent homes.
