The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects and economic viability of diets containing different levels of antibiotic and buriti oil (BO) on performance, carcass and cut yields, and relative weight of organs of broilers. A total of 432 one- to 42-day-old male chicks were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design with six treatments, each consisting of six replicates of 12 birds. The treatments consisted of one diet with antibiotic without BO, one diet without antibiotic (DWA) without BO, and four DWA containing increasing levels of BO (0.

Little information is available in the literature on the use of cactus pear meal (CPM) in poultry diets; therefore, it is important to evaluate diets that provide excellent performance and lower production costs. Our objective was to study the use of Miúda CPM in the diets of laying hens. In the first study, two diets for male and female chicks were used-1: 80% reference diet + 20% Miúda cactus pear meal (CPM) and 2: 80% reference diet + 20% Gigante cactus pear meal (CPM).

Social insects are characterized by having a wide diversity of exocrine glands, with highlights for ants with about 85 glands spreading throughout the body. The mandibular and intramandibular glands are associated with the production of pheromones. The army ants (Dorylinae) play an important role in the structure of the invertebrate community because they are efficient predators and provide suitable conditions for various animals following their invasions in the food search.

Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation, an effective and safe adjuvant treatment recommended to patients with coronary artery disease, is scarcely applied to patients with refractory angina (RA) due to difficulties related to safety, trainning prescription and their clinical management. This case report presents an instance of a "no-option" patient with RA, who was included in a 12-week exercise program, in sessions consisted of 40 minutes of treadmill aerobic exercise, three times a week, and intensity prescribed between ischemic/angina threshold and ventilatory threshold 1, obtained in the cardiopulmonary exercise test; mild to moderate angina was allowed during training. Furthermore, 15 minutes of moderate-intensity resistance training (large group muscle exercises, two sets of 8 to 12 repetitions) was performed.
