Impact of Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network Rules on Admission, Cranial Computed Tomography and Skull X-ray Rates in a Central European Hospital.

Objectives: Mild head injury is a common cause of pediatric emergency department visits. Cranial computed tomography (CCT) is the diagnostic standard, although it involves inherent radiation risks. Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) clinical prediction rules were developed to reduce the number of CCT scans.

Effect of postoperative radiotherapy in pT1pN1cM0 and pT2p/cN0cM0 oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objectives/hypothesis: Consulting of patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma, classified as pT1pN1cM0 and pT2p/cN0cM0, about postoperative radiotherapy is a precarious task as data are lacking. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of postoperative radiotherapy for patients with intermediate-stage oropharyngeal carcinoma.

[Accidental staining of corneal nerves by methylene blue].

A 10-year-old child presented after accidental exposure of the left eye to a blue hair dye containing methylene blue. Mild ocular surface changes and a selective blue staining of the usually invisible corneal nerve fibre bundles were present. Corneal sensitivity was reduced.
