Glioblastoma (GBM), the most prevalent primary malignant brain tumor, remains challenging to treat due to extensive inter- and intra-tumor heterogeneity. This variability demands combination treatments to improve therapeutic outcomes. A significant obstacle in treating GBM is the expression of O-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase, a DNA repair enzyme that reduces the efficacy of the standard alkylating agent, temozolomide, in about 50% of patients.

Our previous studies showed the importance of thyroid hormone-dependent signaling on intestinal tumor development and progression through action on stem cells. These results have a translational value, given that the thyroid hormone nuclear receptor TRα1 is upregulated in human CRCs, including in the molecular subtypes associated with CSC features.

Their characteristics promote liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and the formation of membraneless organelles such as stress granules and nucleoli. IDR-RBPs are particularly relevant in the nervous system and their dysfunction is associated with neurodegenerative diseases and brain tumor development.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is due to progressive distal pulmonary artery (PA) obstruction, leading to right ventricular hypertrophy and failure. Exacerbated store-operated Ca entry (SOCE) contributes to PAH pathogenesis, mediating human PA smooth muscle cell (hPASMC) abnormalities. The transient receptor potential canonical channels (TRPC family) are Ca-permeable channels contributing to SOCE in different cell types, including PASMCs.
