Cardiovascular and other risk factors among people who live in slums in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Objectives: Effective planning of health policies requires the availability of accurate data, representing the burden of disease and risks to the diverse components of society. In Argentina, health information comes from the national risk factors survey (NRFS), which characterises the distribution of different risk factors. However, the NRFS has never collected information from residents living in slums, despite slums representing 10% of the population.

Amination of heterocyclic compounds with o-benzoylhydroxylamine derivatives.

The N-amination of heterocyclic compounds 1a-k with O-benzoylhydroxylamine derivatives 5 was developed and demonstrated to be a superior alternative to existing N-amination methods. A structure-reactivity relationship study was performed on variously substituted O-benzoylhydroxylamine derivatives, leading to the discovery of the novel and more efficient aminating reagents 5h and 5i.

Total synthesis and structural confirmation of the marine natural product Dysinosin A: a novel inhibitor of thrombin and Factor VIIa.

The structure and absolute configuration of the marine antithrombotic product dysinosin A was confirmed by total synthesis. The strategy involved disconnections to three subunits, of which two were synthesized from the readily available l-glutamic acid, d-leucine, and d-mannitol. The Grubbs olefin metathesis carbocyclization reaction was utilized to prepare two intermediates.
