The electron-microscopic method has been used to study the surface structures and biological properties (adhesiveness, antibiotic-resistance, biochemical properties) in 67 strains of Klebsiella isolated from one-year-old children with intestinal infections (56) and from healthy ones (11). It is found that bacterial cells in 58.2% of strains have fimbriae of the 3d type, in 20.

The results of investigation of lipid peroxidation in experimental Salmonella infection in 21-day-old rabbits are analyzed. Salmonella infection was accompanied by activation of lipid peroxidation not only in enterocytes, but also in blood serum. An increase in the level of malonic dialdehyde leads to a decrease in the antioxidation capacity and in the peroxidation resistance of erythrocytic membranes.

The study has been aimed at selection of the optimal blood group of humans for obtaining red cells to be used in the system for the studies of Klebsiella adhesion characteristics. The results evidence that any human blood group is fit for it. Examinations of 95 Klebsiella strains have shown the informative parameters of adhesion and the criteria for the assessment of these parameters.
