Background: High consequence infectious diseases (HCID) include contact-transmissible viral haemorrhagic fevers and airborne-transmissible infections such as Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome. Assessing suspected HCID cases requires specialised infection control measures including patient isolation, personal protective equipment (PPE), and decontamination. There is need for an accessible course for NHS staff to improve confidence and competence in using HCID PPE outside specialist HCID centres.

This study aims to investigate associations between extreme heat stress exposure based on a Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI), emergency department (ED) visits, and ED visits that translate into unplanned hospital admissions.
Methods: This population-based case-crossover study included all ED visits and unplanned hospital admissions among children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years from New South Wales, Australia, from July 2001 to June 2020.
Exciton migration in organic polymer dots (Pdots) is crucial for optimizing photocatalytic reactions at the particle surface, such as hydrogen evolution and carbon dioxide reduction. Despite the use of Pdots in photocatalysis, there is still a need for better understanding of exciton diffusion within these systems. This study investigates the exciton diffusion in PFBT Pdots stabilized with different weight percentages of the co-polymer surfactant PS-PEG-COOH and doped with perylene red as an internal quencher.

The proposed biosynthetic pathway for the cordycicadins anticipates the formation of two more natural products which are unknown. We report the total synthesis of (-)-cordycicadin D and the two anticipated natural products 3,4-trans-cordycicadins A and B.

Methods: In this randomized clinical trial with 456 PLWD-caregiver dyads with high caregiver burden, we evaluated the cumulative 5-year treatment effect on PLWD quality of life, health care utilization, caregiver depression, self-efficacy, and burden.
