Background: Guideline-recommended hyperkalaemia management includes dietary potassium (K) restriction, bicarbonate correction, diuretics and K binders with dose reduction of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors as a last resort. The extent to which these recommendations are implemented is uncertain, as real-world data on hyperkalaemia management are limited. The Tracking Treatment Pathways in Adult Patients with Hyperkalemia (TRACK) study is a multinational, prospective, longitudinal study that is being conducted to address this knowledge gap.

Background: Parents of children and adolescents with chronic conditions have an increased risk of stress-related mental health problems, and reduced quality of life. Third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions have been shown to reduce stress in this parent population. Studies demonstrate that this efficacy endures when these therapies are delivered online.

Background: Blood glucose management around exercise is challenging for youth with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Previous research has indicated interventions including decision-support aids to better support youth to effectively contextualize blood glucose results and take appropriate action to optimize glucose levels during and after exercise. Mobile health (mHealth) apps help deliver health behavior interventions to youth with T1D, given the use of technology for glucose monitoring, insulin dosing, and carbohydrate counting.

Key Points: Sodium zirconium cyclosilicate effectively lowers serum potassium and maintains normokalemia in patients with CKD with concomitant hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis. Despite high screen failure and small sample size, a nominally significant increase in sHCO was seen for sodium zirconium cyclosilicate versus placebo. Further studies on the basis of an appropriate cohort size may help validate the trend observed in sHCO levels, supporting these clinically relevant findings.
