During one-year administration of fluphenazine [FLU], 1 or 5 mg/kg/d ip. two phases in the behavior of rats were observed. During the first four months of treatment the locomotor and exploratory activities were depressed, while during the following months the reversal of this phenomenon was observed, and the activity of FLU-treated rats increased, particularly in the open-field test.

Tuftsin has marked analgesic activity but is less potent than D-Arg3-tuftsin. The absence of an antagonistic effect of naloxone on tuftsin and its analogue suggests that these substances do not act on opiate receptors. Tuftsin and its analogues may represent a new class of substances of interest in the search for new analgesics.

The reported investigations were carried out on male Porton white mice, which had bilateral lesions of the cortex of frontal lobes made one month before the experiment. In mice with these lesions the excitatory effect of apomorphine (2 mg/kg) and clonidine (0.1 microgram/kg) was abolished, similarly as the inhibitory effect of clonidine (1 mg/kg) on the motor activity.
