Contextual drivers on local sport promotion policy: a Dutch case study on the relevance of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim of this study was to explore why and how the COVID-19 pandemic influenced local sport promotion policy in the Netherlands. We used a case study approach examining the Dutch context. We studied the perspectives of Local Sport Managers (LSMs) and (coordinators of) neighbourhood sport coaches (NSCs).

Health promoting sports federations: theoretical foundations and guidelines.

Background: Researchers and policy-makers have highlighted that the potential for organized sports to promote health has been underexploited. Sports clubs have limited capacity to promote health due to their voluntary nature and have called for support from their national sports federations. The present article provides guidelines, based on the theoretical principles of health promoting sports clubs and an analysis of practical tools and proven strategies, to support national sports federations to invest in health promotion (HP).

The mechanisms of class 1A PI3K and Wnt/β-catenin coupled signaling in breast cancer.

The class IA PI3K signaling pathway is activated by growth factor stimulation and regulates a signaling cascade that promotes diverse events including cell growth, proliferation, migration and metabolism. PI3K signaling is one of the most commonly hyperactivated pathways in breast cancer, leading to increased tumor growth and progression. PI3K hyperactivation occurs via a number of genetic and epigenetic mechanisms including mutation or amplification of PIK3CA, the gene encoding the p110α subunit of PI3Kα, as well as via dysregulation of the upstream growth factor receptors or downstream signaling effectors.

Clinical response following hypertension induction for clinical delayed cerebral ischemia following subarachnoid hemorrhage: A retrospective, multicenter, cohort study.

Background: Hypertension induction (HTI) is often used for treating delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH); however, high-quality studies on its efficacy are lacking. We studied immediate and 3-/6-month clinical efficacy of HTI in aSAH patients with clinical DCI.

Methods: A retrospective, multicenter, comparative, observational cohort study in aSAH patients with clinical deterioration due to DCI, admitted to three tertiary referral hospitals in the Netherlands from 2015 to 2019.

Functional and Phenotypic Characterisations of Common Syngeneic Tumour Cell Lines as Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer Models.

Estrogen receptor-positive breast cancers (ER BCas) are the most common form of BCa and are increasing in incidence, largely due to changes in reproductive practices in recent decades. Tamoxifen is prescribed as a component of standard-of-care endocrine therapy for the treatment and prevention of ER BCa. However, it is poorly tolerated, leading to low uptake of the drug in the preventative setting.
