Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on socioeconomic and public health conditions of the population.
Aim: To measure the temporal evolution of COVID-19 cases in cities near the countryside outside metropolitan areas of northeastern Brazil and the impact of the primary care organization in its containment.
Methods: This is a time-series study, based on the first three months of COVID-19 incidence in northeastern Brazil.
Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of vitamin D supplementation alone on the adipokine profile of postmenopausal women.
Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 160 women were randomized to 2 groups: oral supplementation with 1,000 IU cholecalciferol/d (vitamin D, n = 80) or placebo (PL, n = 80). Women with amenorrhea 12 months or more and aged 50 to 65 years were included.
Purpose: Evaluate the level of health literacy and quality of life of patients with hypertension.
Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study was carried out in the Northeast region of Brazil with 105 patients with hypertension through the SAHLPA-18, S-TOFHLA and MINICHAL tests.
Results: For both literacy tests applied, it can be observed that about 60% of the interviewed patients did not present adequate health literacy.
Oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions stabilized by cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and/or sunflower proteins (SFP) were produced, aiming to study the effects of each and the mixture of these stabilizers on the interfacial behavior and physicochemical properties of O/W emulsions. The presence of CNC (non-surface activity compound) did not affect SFP solutions' adsorption kinetics since there were no differences in the interfacial tension curves of SFP and mixtures of stabilizers over time. However, either stabilizer provided alone high resistance against droplet coalescence over time (no evidence of oiling-off and no difference in the mean droplet size values), even systems with less viscoelastic interface (2 % CNC).
