The Association of HIV Criminalization Law and Disparities in Transplant Education among People with HIV.

While people with HIV (PWH) experience high rates of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), they were historically denied kidney transplantation and prohibited from organ donation, both elements of treating ESKD. It remains unknown to what extent such HIV criminalization laws correlate with the provision of transplantation education to PWH. We conducted this study to elucidate the relationship between these structural-level policies and individual-level outcomes.

Controlling wall-particle interactions with activity.

We theoretically determine the effective forces on hard disks near walls embedded inside active nematic liquid crystals. When the disks are sufficiently close to the wall and the flows are sufficiently slow, we can obtain exact expressions for the effective forces. We find these forces and the dynamics of disks near the wall depend both on the properties of the active nematic and on the anchoring conditions on the disks and the wall.

Psychological entitlement and conspiracy beliefs: evidence from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Psychological entitlement describes the dispositional tendency to claim excessive and unearned rewards and resources, and to demand undeserved special treatment. In one experiment, one cross-sectional survey, and one time-separated survey (total  = 721), we show that psychological entitlement is associated with general conspiracy theory endorsement, COVID-19 specific conspiracy theory endorsement, and conspiracy theorizing as an overarching cognitive style. Detection of intact vancomycin-arginine as the active antibacterial conjugate in by whole-cell solid-state NMR.

The introduction of new and improved antibacterial agents based on facile synthetic modifications of existing antibiotics represents a promising strategy to deliver urgently needed antibacterial candidates to treat multi-drug resistant bacterial infections. Using this strategy, vancomycin was transformed into a highly active agent against antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative organisms and through the addition of a single arginine to yield vancomycin-arginine (V-R).
