[Variability of intima-media thickness of the common carotid arteries in Moscow city population without clinical symptoms of atherosclerosis].

Aim: To determine borderline values of intima-media thickness (IMT) of the common carotid arteries (CCA) in Moscow citizens without clinical symptoms of atherosclerosis.

Material And Methods: A total of 885 (277 males and 608 females) Moscow citizens aged 20-79 years free of clinical symptoms of atherosclerosis participated in population-based epidemiological trial. CCA IMT was measured at ultrasonic scanning of the carotid arteries in high-resolution regimen.

[An assessment of epidemic outbreaks of salmonellosis connected with poultry plant production].

The causes of the simultaneous rise of salmonellosis morbidity induced by S. enteritidis among the population of three towns in the Perm region were studied. The study revealed the leading role of eggs and chicken meat as factors contributing to the transfer of this infection to the population of different territories, commonly supplied with the products of one poultry plant.

[Metrological and operating characteristics of thermoluminescent and photographic film dosimeters for the centralized individual dosimetric monitoring of medical personnel].

Characteristics of a TLD thermoluminescent kit with LiF detectors of TLD and DTG-4 types (diameters 3.5 and 5 mm) and TLD-400 were compared with those of a kit of IFKU-1 individual photographic film badges. Individual thermoluminescent dosimeters record a total dose of occupational and background irradiation, and film badges--a dose of occupational irradiation only.
