HIV-1 variants circulating in the town of Cherepovets, Vologda Region, were genetically analyzed. It was shown that that were predominantly two HIV-1 variants: IDU-A (19%) and the recombinant strain UDU-AIB (77%) that circulated in the region. Amongst the IDU-A strains, there were genotypes containing characteristic secondary drug resistance mutations in the pol gene of V771 and A62V, as well as variants of the wild type.

Enzyme immunoassay was used to determine the levels of thyrotropric hormone (TTH), total and free fractions of thyroxine, and triiodothyronine in patients with respiratory tuberculosis. 61.8% of the patients were found to have type 3 euthyroid pathology that was characterized by the elevated levels of thyroxine and triiodothyronine with the unchanged level of TTH and by the absence of clinical manifestations of thyrotoxicosis.

The serological materials of the indigenous population and cattle suggest that there are viral foci of a complex of California encephalitis with the circulation of viruses of Inkoo, Tahyna [correction of Tyagin], and the white hare. The results of examining the residents of Irkutsk also suggest that there are urban viral foci of a complex of California encephalitis. The epidemiological potential of the natural foci of Batai virus is insignificant in the Baikal region.
