Objective: To analyze the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the occurrence of work accidents involving biological materials (ATBio) and to assess changes in the epidemiological profile of these cases.

Methods: An ecological time-series study with a cross-sectional component was conducted using ATBio notifications in Brazil from 2015 to 2022 in the Information System for Notifiable Diseases (Sinan). Interrupted time-series analyses were performed using Prais-Winsten regression models, temporal predictions, and multiple logistic regression to identify changes in the profile between the pandemic and pre-pandemic periods.

High-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) presents high recurrence and progression rates. Despite the use of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin gold-standard immunotherapy and the recent irruption of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 drugs, we are missing a comprehensive understanding of the tumor microenvironment (TME) that may help us find biomarkers associated to treatment outcome. Here, we prospectively analyzed TME composition and PD-L1 expression of tumor and non-tumoral tissue biopsies from 73 NMIBC patients and used scRNA-seq, transcriptomic cohorts and tissue micro-array to validate the prognostic value of cell types of interest.

The study of human body shape using classical anthropometric techniques is often problematic due to several error sources. Instead, 3D models and representations provide more accurate registrations, which are stable across acquisitions, and enable more precise, systematic, and fast measuring capabilities. Thus, the same person can be scanned several times and precise differential measurements can be established in an accurate manner.

The results of a survey of vascular plant species along two elevational gradients in the high Andes of central Chile (33°S) are reported. Vascular plant species were recorded in 12 and 15 plots of 1600 m set up to be permanent, distributed at intervals of 100 m elevation along two elevational gradients, one in the La Parva (2500-3600 m a.s.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated the effectiveness and persistence of golimumab (GLM) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, and psoriatic arthritis who previously used other TNF inhibitors compared to those who haven't.
  • A total of 192 patients were included, with follow-up results indicating that the majority discontinued GLM due to inefficacy, and the median survival for GLM treatment was similar for both experienced and naive patients.
  • The study concluded that prior TNFi experience did not significantly affect the survival or persistence of GLM treatment, but having public health insurance was linked to higher discontinuation rates.
