Maxillofacial trauma (MFT) caused by falls, interpersonal violence or traffic accidents leading to fractures of different facial regions, including the midface and the mandible, are common clinical conditions requiring open reduction and internal fixation. The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence and time trends in MFT-associated surgeries regarding different facial regions in the German healthcare system over time. Nationwide data regarding the national diagnosis-related group (DRG) inpatient billing system was received from the German Federal Statistical Office for the years 2005-2022.

Background: Simultaneous trauma admissions expose medical professionals to increased workload. The impact of simultaneous trauma admissions on hospital allocation, therapy, and outcome is currently unclear. We hypothesized that multiple admission-scenarios impact the diagnostic pathway and outcome.

[Rehabilitation of multiple injured patients in Germany: Clinic locations, structural and equipment attributes].

Background: In recent years, there has been an ongoing improvement in the treatment and structural aspects of acute trauma care. Because of the definition of rehabilitation as a post-acute part of the treatment of traumatic injuries, especially in multiple injured patients, there is need to improve the interaction and cooperation between acute care hospitals and rehabilitation clinics. This article gives a survey of the current state of rehabilitation in Germany.
