Ambulatory chrono-chemotherapy by portable pumps: feasibility and compliance. Nursing aspects.

A study was undertaken among thirty seven advanced cancer patients, receiving chronochemotherapy by ambulatory programmable-in-time pumps. Drugs were infused through simple or double chamber venous, and/or arterial totally implantable side-ports. The aim was to evaluate the treatment feasibility in an ambulatory mode, while appreciating the patient's physical and psychological tolerance and measuring the treatment's impact on the patient's daily life and family unit.
