Background: Senegal has made significant progress in reducing the burden of malaria, but transmission remains highly heterogeneous, with specific population subgroups likely at higher risk. Consultations with the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) and a review of available data identified nomadic pastoralists, gold miners, and Koranic school students as potential high-risk populations (HRPs). This study aimed to evaluate whether these populations are at higher risk of malaria and better characterize their exposure patterns to inform the design of targeted intervention strategies.

The aim of this work was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of FIT across different analysers at different thresholds, as a single test or in duplicate (dual FIT).
Method: This systematic review and meta-analysis searched 10 sources (December 2022).
Introduction: Breast pain is not typically a symptom of breast cancer, yet nationally 20% of 2-week wait (2WW) breast referrals are breast pain alone. The East Midlands Breast Pain Pathway improves patient experience and frees capacity in secondary care diagnostic breast clinics, managing women with breast pain only in a community setting. We report the results of implementation of community breast pain clinics (CBPCs) at sites in Derbyshire (catchment population ~1 million), with 12 months follow-up data.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe concentration of Ca in plant feed ingredients is low compared with the requirement for pigs and most Ca in diets for pigs is provided by limestone and Ca phosphate. To determine digestibility values for Ca that are additive in mixed diets, the standardized total tract digestibility (STTD) of Ca needs to be calculated, and the STTD of Ca by growing pigs in most Ca-containing ingredients has been reported. Although Ca is an inexpensive nutrient compared with P and amino acids, excess Ca needs to be avoided because excess dietary Ca results in reduced P digestibility, reduced feed intake, and reduced growth performance of pigs.
