Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify risk factors for emergence delirium (ED) in children aged 2 to 7 years undergoing anesthesia for MRI, noting that ED is a concern during recovery.
  • Researchers used specific behavioral and anxiety assessment tools, finding that 16.9% of the 136 children studied experienced ED, with a notable association to shorter arousal time post-anesthesia.
  • Findings suggest that further interdisciplinary research is needed to identify pre-procedural predictors and develop targeted interventions to reduce the occurrence of ED in pediatric patients.

Oxo-graphene nanoribbons (oxo-GNRs) can be prepared by the oxidative unzipping of single-walled carbon nanotubes. We present an orthogonal functionalization method for the functionalization of the rims and the π-surface, respectively, what is only possible due to the high rim portion in oxo-GNRs. In particular, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy could be used to follow the reaction and detect the marker atoms contained in the addends.

The use of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) for plant protection shows great potential as a sustainable alternative to traditional pesticides. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge on using exogenous dsRNA in plant protection and includes the latest findings on the safety and efficiency of this strategy. The review also emphasizes the need for a cautious and comprehensive approach, considering safety considerations such as off-target effects and formulation challenges.

Objective: The relationship between depression, diabetes, and access to diabetes care is established in high-income countries (HICs) but not in middle-income countries (MICs), where contexts and health systems differ and may impact this relationship. In this study, we investigate access to diabetes care for individuals with and without depressive symptoms in MICs.

Research Design And Methods: We analyzed pooled data from nationally representative household surveys across Brazil, Chile, China, Indonesia, and Mexico.
