Revelations from a meta database system on environmental health problems.

Harmful effects of environmental pollution to the health status of population is well-known to ecologists and experts on health sciences. However, prevention and protection against such direct environmental hazards to save, or, in a worse case, re-establish the ecological balance are anything but successful. It is true, even if modern monitoring and measuring technology, adequate information systems, and related data bases are available.

[The lateral supramalleolar fasciocutaneous flap and its modification].

The author gives a report on the lateral supramalleolar fasciocutan flap, supplied by the a. peronea perforans, according to Maquelet and the Valenti's modification is introduced as well. The indications are discussed on the experience of two cases, treating calcaneal skin defect.

Treatment of thermally injured patients with Betadine solution and cream.

The effect of Betadine solution and cream was examined in the treatment of burn patients (23 documented and about 200 non-documented) during the first six months of 1991. The laboratory examinations did not reveal changes in T3, T4, TSH values. Renal failure due to iodine absorption was not observed.

[Distally pedicled fasciocutaneous flaps].

Authors used for the supplementation of the soft parts of the lower extremity reversed fasciocutaneous flaps in 8 cases; 6 of them were burned patients. In the Hungarian literature no paper on the use of distally pedicled flaps was published until now.

[Reverse ulnar artery flap in the repair of an electric burn injury].

Authors used to cover the defect of the wrist region in consequence of electric burn reverse ulnar artery island flap with success. The method described was used in one case and it is suggested in similar circumstances.
