Background: There is lower female representation within academic medicine. We aimed to investigate female authorship (FA) and female-held chair or program director (PD) positions within head and neck oncology (HNO).
Methods: Articles authored by females about microvascular and reconstructive surgery (MRS) and transoral robotic surgery (TORS) were identified.
Purpose: To characterize American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellowship graduates' career paths and contributions to society missions, including trends across gender, time, and geography.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, ASOPRS fellowship graduates from 2000 to 2021 were stratified by demographics, time, and geography. Main outcomes were career paths and contributions to ASOPRS missions of advancing education, research, and quality of clinical practice.
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of preoperative phenylephrine (PE)-induced Hering's response on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing unilateral Müller's muscle-conjunctival resection (MMCR) for blepharoptosis correction.
Methods: Sixty-five consecutive patients (65 eyes) undergoing unilateral MMCR between January 2016 and December 2023 were included in this retrospective single-surgeon study. The main outcome measure was the margin-reflex distance 1 (MRD1) at postoperative month 1 visit.
Prcis: In a diverse database ( All of Us ), we report significant dose-response associations between alcohol use frequency and glaucoma, with alcohol use of 4 or more drinks per week associated with significantly increased odds of glaucoma.
Purpose: Current evidence on the association between alcohol use and primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is mixed. We utilize the diverse All of Us Research Program to further examine this relationship.
