Small bowel cavernous hemangioma as an uncommon cause of iron-deficiency anemia.

Small bowel hemangiomas are benign congenital vascular lesions that can be asymptomatic or cause anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or intestinal perforation. We report the case of a 75-year-old woman who, after years of study for iron-deficiency anemia, was diagnosed with a cavernous hemangioma of the jejunum by capsule endoscopy, which was confirmed after surgical resection.

Cerebral microbleeds. Utility of SWI sequences.

Objectives: Define the concept of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) and describe the most useful MRI sequences for detecting this finding. Review the entities that most frequently present with CMBs and that may benefit from the use of susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) sequences.

Conclusions: SWI is a useful MRI sequence for the detection and characterization of microhemorrhages, venous structures and other sources of susceptibility in imaging.

Extrauterine leiomyomatosis, the great mimicker.

Objectives: Describe the radiographic features of the different forms of extrauterine leiomyomatosis.

Conclusions: Leiomyomas with a rare growth pattern occur most often in women of reproductive age and with a history of hysterectomy. Extrauterine leiomyomas present a greater diagnostic challenge because they may mimic malignancies, and serious diagnostic errors may result.

Recurrent abdominal pain as the only clinical manifestation of hereditary angioedema type II.

Recurrent abdominal pain is a common reason for consultation in Gastroenterology. The differential diagnosis includes hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of angioedema, without urticaria or pruritus, which most often affects the skin, but also mucosal tissues of the gastrointestinal tract, triggered by diverse factors such as infections, trauma, surgery, drugs, or stress. It is a disease with a difficult diagnosis due to its heterogeneous and transitory clinical features, so having a clinical suspicion in the appropriate context would allow the administration of a specific treatment and avoid unnecessary examinations.
