Topical Oxygenation Improves Microvascularity in a Human Ex Vivo Palatal Tissue Model: A Histological Analysis.

Several therapies involving the use of oxygen have been developed; however, the literature to date has poorly addressed the effects of Topical Oxygen Therapy (TOT) on oral tissues. The aim of the present pilot study was to histologically evaluate the response to TOT in epithelial-connective samples harvested from the palate. In eight patients selected for a free gingival graft (FGG) procedure, the lateral portions of the graft were randomly assigned to receive TOT (test) or no treatment (control).

Search for Fractionally Charged Particles with CUORE.

The Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events (CUORE) is a detector array comprised by 988 5  cm×5  cm×5  cm TeO_{2} crystals held below 20 mK, primarily searching for neutrinoless double-beta decay in ^{130}Te. Unprecedented in size among cryogenic calorimetric experiments, CUORE provides a promising setting for the study of exotic throughgoing particles. Using the first tonne year of CUORE's exposure, we perform a search for hypothesized fractionally charged particles (FCPs), which are well-motivated by various standard model extensions and would have suppressed interactions with matter.

Avenues towards reconciling wild and managed bee proponents.

Bees are crucial for food security and biodiversity. However, managed bees are increasingly considered drivers of wild bee declines, leading to stakeholder conflicts and restrictive policies. We propose avenues to reconcile wild and managed bee proponents and point out knowledge gaps that hinder the development of evidence-based policies.

Optimal Operation of Cryogenic Calorimeters Through Deep Reinforcement Learning.

Cryogenic phonon detectors with transition-edge sensors achieve the best sensitivity to sub-GeV/c dark matter interactions with nuclei in current direct detection experiments. In such devices, the temperature of the thermometer and the bias current in its readout circuit need careful optimization to achieve optimal detector performance. This task is not trivial and is typically done manually by an expert.

Do Intrabony Defects Have a Worse Clinical Response to Step 2 of Periodontal Therapy and Repeated Subgingival Instrumentation Compared with Suprabony Defects? A Systematic Review.

Aim: To assess the differential clinical response to step 2 of periodontal therapy and repeated subgingival instrumentation between teeth with suprabony and intrabony defects.

Methods: Electronic and manual search were performed to identify studies reporting the differential clinical outcomes of non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) in presence or absence of intrabony defects. The Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 and the Newcastle Ottawa scale were used to assess the risk of bias.
